A warm Broadstone Mill welcome to our new tenant Skogsvana

We’re very excited to have welcomed Skogsvana as a brand new tenant in Broadstone Mill.

Skogsvana prides themselves on providing high quality, durable leather goods and equipment, designed and made for the outdoors.

Born from a passion for the outdoors and years of experience studying the art of wilderness skills, Skogsvana continually develops innovative products to make life more comfortable in the wild.

After recognising a need for the products worldwide, and with much of the demand for the products being in the US, Skogsvana opened up shop in 2017, and are continuing their journey in their new workshop in Broadstone Mill.

They operate as a tightly knit team of individuals taking inspiration from nature, traditional design & Bushcraft practitioners/instructors. They strive to deliver exceptional customer service, going above and beyond to ensure their customers receive a unique and enjoyable experience.

Meet our tenants – Computeam

Owen Napier – MD – Computeam

Owen Napier is a business owner in Broadstone Mill. His business provides managed IT services to education, public sector organisations and SMEs across the country.  We met up with Owen to find out about his business, and his experiences in the mill.

Hi, Owen. Tell us about your business.

Computeam has been around since 1998, providing technology solutions and support to a range of organisations including schools and SMEs across the North-West. Our goal is to improve your outcomes using technology and we use a wide range of tools to do this, from helping companies to make use of cloud-based communication tools to providing fast, secure internet services.

The biggest asset in our service-led organisation is our staff and we currently employ over 50 people across our three bases in Stockport, Liverpool and Taunton.

What attracted a company like yours to Broadstone Mill?

The Mill provided a flexible business space that was ideal for us from the start. The free onsite parking allowed our large field-based team to return to the office for meetings, and proximity to the M60, M56 and M6 were also key factors. Over the years we’ve grown and have been able to take on additional space to suit our needs, including flexible storage space and project space to help deal with seasonal peaks in our project work.

Has being within the communal space helped with any business challenges?

Definitely. The support of the Mill in providing flexible space for our summer “peak” has really helped and over the years we’ve used the services of a number of fellow tenants.

What benefits do you get having your business based in a non-city centre location?

The transport links are excellent and we don’t suffer from the traffic constraints that would hit us being in the city-centre. Of course the costs are much lower too!

What’s your favourite thing / hidden gem from the local area?

There’s an amazing Sicilian restaurant called A Tavola just up the road in Reddish, and in my opinion the best brunch in Manchester can be had just 5 minutes away from Broadstone Mill at Trove in Longsight.

We have a range of tenants in the mill, ranging from IT support to podiatrists, to builders, to clothing exporters. Are there any other types of businesses you’d like to see in the space?

It would be great to see some professional services organisations – a few years ago there were a firm of solicitors who are always handy neighbours to have!
